The composer

Pablo Aguirre was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1961. The pianist and composer has studied piano at the Buenos Aires conservatory, musical education at the CAECE university in Buenos Aires (Argentina), piano under Dr. Guillermo Graetzer and Roberto Caamaño, as well as composition and orchestral arrangement under Manolo Juárez and Lito Valle.

His music combines two musical styles that are deeply rooted in Argentinian culture - European classical music on the one hand, and tango on the other. Aguirre's music should be understood both as a further development of the classical tradition as well as a continuation of Piazzolla's tango renewal.

The driving force behind the composer's work is his inner desire to create a musical expression of his cultural identity. Aguirre was honored with notable awards such as the "Estímulo a la Creación" (Creative Stimulus) of the Fondo Nacional de las Artes (2008, 2004, and 1997), as well as the first prize of the University of Belgrano in the category of Folk Fusion (1987).
